In February 2019, a small Australian video game studio, Team Cherry, announced the anticipated sequel to their popular indie game, Hollow Knight Silksong.  The game was originally going to be a DLC, or downloadable content, that would allow players to play as one of the side characters in the game, and explore new parts of the world.  The DLC got too big for Team Cherry’s liking, so they decided to make it a standalone game.

The team went quiet for a couple of years, then for the 2022 game awards, broke their silence with a reveal trailer for the game, which featured new game mechanics, and actual gameplay.  The team has since been pretty quiet, ensuring the community that they are in fact, working on the game, but outside of that, they have not given much information on the actual game’s progress.

That was until Unity, the game engine running Sliksong, decided to drop a new condition making creators pay back Unity when they sell copies of their games,  so they decided to delay the game once again to move it to a new engine that wouldn’t burn their money.

Gamers have been waiting and waiting for this game for years. Every game event thousands of people wait eagerly hoping for at least for a new trailer. Some are so dedicated to this game that they have made channels and documents keeping track of news about the game. Most notably would be the YouTube channel, Daily Silksong News, which has posted daily updates on the project for the past 1,432 days, and only 21 of those days have gotten news.

It is certain that people are most definitely interested in this game, its predecessor being titled a classic in gaming history, and it has a lot of potential and Team Cherry is taking their time to make it the best game it can possibly be. All people can do is wait and support the team in their endeavors.
