Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and whether you will be spending it with your significant other, or treating yourself to something special, we can always distract ourselves with the romantic lives of celebrities. These relationships do not obviously affect our everyday lives, but it is a fun way to entertain ourselves during the rough start to 2021. Students from the many surrounding high schools including South Lyon, South Lyon East, Novi, and many others, have quite a bit to say about celebrities and who their favorite celebrity is dating. Edsel Ford senior Scarlett DeVries, said “I would love to see Luke Hemmings from 5 Seconds of Summer and myself become a new couple this year. It’s my only hope.” Let’s look at some celebrity relationships and what the student body thinks about their ability to last or be a disastrous flash in the pan.
Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello
Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello are one of the most famous singer-songwriter couples. 55.6 percent of students think that they’ll stay together, but 44.4 percent say they’re going to break up. Since they’ve been dating for almost two years and have been staying out of celebrity drama and the paparazzi light, “Shamilla” is probably going to last for a long time, whether people want them to stay together or not. If they continue to produce music together, they may profit off of the relationship. Hopefully, Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello stay together, and have a healthy and happy relationship.
Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde
Pop icon Harry Styles and actress Olivia Wilde have recently made an appearance together at a wedding, whilst holding hands. Insights say Styles introduced Wilde as his girlfriend. Being 10 years his senior, fans are a bit edgy towards Wilde. Around 63 percent of people think that they will break up. Since they’ve only been together for an estimated one to two months, it’s hard to say whether this couple will last. Senior Lia Quatro said “I love Harry Styles no matter what, but I admit it was a bit of a shock to see them together, and I really think it’ll last.” Along with Quatro, a ton of fans are shocked, yet happy to see their favorite celebrity in a happy relationship.
Noah Beck and Dixie D’aMelio
One of the most popular TikTok couples ever, Noah Beck and Dixie D’Amelio have taken over the internet with their adorable relationship. Looking at it from the outside, Noah and Dixie have a perfect relationship; however, it may be more rough than we think. 75 percent of people surveyed said that Noah and Dixie will end up breaking up, which seems to happen a lot with internet “celebrity” couples. With the past drama following the two, the relationship will probably end as suddenly as it started. Having an extremely public relationship is hard, so hope the best for Noah and Dixie as their relationship takes off into rough tides.
Now, some celebrities have already gotten together and broken up. The student body expressed their love for couples that have already said goodbye. Around five people said they want David Dobrik and Liza Koshy to get back together since after ending their three year relationship during a YouTube video, the breakup completely crushed their fans. Another celebrity pair that people cannot get over is Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott. Jenner and Scott broke the internet with a hidden pregnancy which resulted in Stormi Webster. The world has still yet to get over this celebrity breakup, and hopes they still have enough spark to eventually get back together. Since Valentine’s day is coming up, let’s hope these celeb couples at least stay together until then. Now while these celebrity relationships really have no effect on our lives even in the slightest, it is still fun to watch them evolve or dissolve.
