Love is in the air all around SL. Valentine’s Day has passed, but the romance is still spurring around school. Many of our very own South Lyon students have celebrity crushes, some more popular than others. Let’s take a look at some of SL’s favorite celebrity crushes and who they not-so-secretly wish they spend time with during the month of love.

  • Freshman Amelia Winsor: “If I had to pick it would be Timothée Chalamet.”
  • Junior Alyssa Garrison: “I really like Ralph Macchio, I love the Karate Kid movie and think he looks really cute in it.”
  • Junior Alayna Garrison: “I like Rafe Cameron, I am not sure what the actor’s name is, but I thought he looked really good in Outer Banks.”
  • Junior Izzy Sperry: “I like the guy who plays Daniel Larusso in the Karate Kid movie.”
  • Junior Cate Cumberland: “Definitely Glenn Powell or Michael B. Jordan.”
  • Junior Maddie Mlynarczyk:  “I love JJ from OuterBanks, I feel like that is always a solid answer, [but] I also really like Peter Kavinsky from To All of the Boys I’ve Loved Before.”
  • Senior Chloe Rentz: “I like Billie Ellish and Odessa A’zion a lot; I think they are really pretty.”

Students often enjoy watching these stars’ interviews and projects. Celebrity crushes normally end up being actors that we see in many movies we watch, our favorite singers, or celebrities we commonly see attending events. Similarly, new crushes often come up with rising trends and media we see, including the spread of TikTok edits of people who are in shows and attend events we view. This has simultaneously given the population more options for these crushes. Hence these celebrities also often create a blueprint for people’s crushes in real life and the people to whom they gravitate towards.

Overall, some celebrity crushes are more popular than others, but it is all based on personal taste. However, it is not just the looks that attract these students in, it is the personality and likely the role they play in the projects these stars work on. Having a celebrity crush is a lot of fun and our school is full of different celebrity crushes but it is always good to get your head out of the stars and look for some real romance.
