Recently, information and rumors flooded social media about a mom named Hannah Hiatt, otherwise known on social media as Nurse Hannah. Hiatt posted a video while grocery shopping with her kid, but something was clearly off. In one of the clips, she gives her baby one of the items that they had picked up, yet in that same clip you can clearly see the baby flinching instinctivly. Not long after that, Hiatt posted another video showing all 17 of the dirty diapers around her house from her child, and it not only grabbed the internet’s attention, but it also highly disgusted viewers. The internet was very concerned about what was happening in her home and within her family.
The first video that attracted a lot of attention was the grocery shopping trip she filmed and posted to her account. This seems really innocent, but in the video, her baby flinched as an item was coming towards him. Not even just a little flinch, her baby held up his hands in front of him like he was blocking something. If you examine the video a little bit closer, you can see the terror in the baby’s eyes as the object nears him. This reaction is not normal for a child this age. Creators all over TikTok posted videos of them trying to make their baby flinch by moving their hand in front of their child’s face quickly and then stopping to see if they will flinch. The outcome of these videos was not surprising at all: the children laughed instead of flinching Almost immediately, this video was deleted off of her page, but you can see the clips on other accounts who reposted the clip
Not long after this video was posted, another controversial video was put up, known as the 17 dirty diapers scandal. Hiatt released a video of her showing how many dirty diapers were around her house. She explains how she is a busy mom and there is just no time to clean up sometimes. This can be understandable, but most of the internet seems to have a problem with it. The amount of diapers that were laying around her house like they are children’s toys is excessive. This cannot be sanitary to not only her and her husband, but also to her child. Hiatt is a busy mom with being a nurse, but it gets to a point where it is too much and can be seen as abuse rather than just being busy
On Dec.10, US Weekly posted that Hiatt is beginning to be investigated by Child Protective Services (CPS). “TikTok personality and mommy influencer Hannah Hiatt is being investigated by police following reports made via Child Protective Services.” To many, this information has been relieving. Many moms that have been following along with the drama can now feel like a weight has been lifted from them.
Recently, social media has seemed to normalize moms exploiting their children. They post videos of their kids that should not be shown to the public, and they are using their children to do non kid-like things in order to give them clout. All of these scandals that have been going on are not okay, and it should not be normalized.
