Morgan Cogo ’25, Entertainment Editor
Every newspaper has a hierarchy. Even student-run ones have a pyramid—if you will—and you are going to find out where everyone falls on the ladder. Here is who is reporting your news for the 2023-2024 school year.
Erin Burchill: I am a junior, and it is my third year on staff. I am one of the Copy Editors for this year; I oversee edits for opinion, entertainment, and news articles. I enjoy writing, listening to music, watching movies, and playing video games. I participate in marching band, winter guard, and NHS. I am a sucker for all things English.
Gabrielle Farr: I am a senior, and it is my first year on staff. I am the Social Media Manager. I am a part of the varsity pom team and NHS here at South Lyon. I have been working at the local Tropical Smoothie for two years now. If I am not working out at practice, I love spending time with my friends and family.
Madelyn Furstenau: I am a sophomore, and this is my second year on staff. I am the Lyonlife.org Editor-in-Chief, which means I edit all of the articles that go on our website. In addition to being on the newspaper staff, I am on the Varsity Softball team. In my free time, I love listening to country music, reading and writing, and hanging out with my friends.
Kaylee Hanson: I am a senior, and this is my first year on staff; I am the Feature Editor, so I edit all articles in the feature category. Outside of newspaper, I am in marching band, so I spend a lot of time doing colorguard. I enjoy painting, writing and listening to music in my free time.
Sloan Jambor: I am a sophomore, and this is my first year on staff. I am the Sports Editor, so I look over all of the articles involved with sports. Along with the newspaper, I play softball and basketball for the school. I enjoy reading, Taylor Swift, science, and sleeping.
Cooper Lewis: I am a sophomore; this is my second year on the staff. I am the News Editor, so I edit each article that falls under the News category. In my spare time, I like to hang out with my friends or read. I currently swim for the South Lyon Boys’ Swim and Dive team. My favorite subjects include history and English.
Rylie Lipke: I am a freshman, and this is my first year on staff and at this school. I am the Student Life Editor, so I get details of what students’ life outside and inside of school is like. Along with being involved with the school through newspaper, I also play for the volleyball team for the school and a national team outside of school. I love to listen to music and hangout with my friends whenever I am free.
Natalie Monzon: I am a senior, and this is my first year on staff. I am a Social Media Manager. I like to hang out with friends and watch TV. I do not do any extracurricular activities. My favorite course is probably TV 2 because it is a lot of fun and allows me to be creative.
Rosalyn Peterson: I have two dogs that are my everything; I adore them. I also have a younger sister who is really sweet. I am a junior, and it is my first year on staff, but so far I really enjoy the class. I am the opinion editor. I love to draw. I am involved in both LINK Crew and theater, which are both really fun ways to connect with others. My favorite subject is either English or Spanish– I really like language arts.
Kellen Pies: I am a senior, and this is my first year on staff. My position on staff is Copy Editor–which means I read and edit all articles for the feature, sports, and student life sections in the newspaper. I enjoy writing, playing golf, and listening to music. My biggest interest is film.
Ella Rentz: My name is Ella Rentz, and this my first year on staff. I am the Business/Ad and Circulation Manager. I enjoy playing soccer. My favorite subject is jewelry and design.
Amelia Romine: I am a senior, this is my first year on staff, and I am a Photo Editor. I have been on the varsity pom team for four years, and I am involved in many other extra curricular activities. In my free time I love hanging out with my friends and shopping. My favorite subject is production classes.
Jessica Sarrach: I am a senior; this is my fourth year on staff, and my third year as Editor-in-Chief. In my free time I like to hang out with my friends, go to concerts, and shop. I am on the NHS council and am a school representative for DECA, my favorite class is newspaper.
Gabrielle Sweda: I am a junior, and it is my first year on staff. I am the photo editor. In my free time I like to read, cook, travel, and hang out with my friends. I am part of both the Student Council and Key Club. My favorite subjects are English and psychology.
Olivia Wilk: It is my first year on staff, and I am a junior. I actually live in Traverse City, but I moved down here to play hockey, and I live with a billet family. A billet or host family is where a player lives during the season. This is a player’s home-away-from- home.. I am a Business and Ad Manager. I like to play hockey, and my favorite subject is economics.
Morgan Cogo: I am a junior, and it is my first year on staff. I am the Entertainment Editor, so I edit all articles to do with movies/TV, books, video games, music, celebrities, etc. I love to read/write, play video games, cuddle my dogs, and listen to music. Outside of school I do archery and horseback riding; my favorite subjects are English and science.
